And those that were bullied can someday suprise you! I was bullied and picked on for being poor at a time in my life when I needed friendship the most. So years later, as a form of therapy, I wrote a painful graphic novel about my experiences called “Kmart Shoes”.
Hey kids! Well, as an artist, I embraced the fluidity of life. “Not Quite Frankenstein” was a flop. You, the readers, have spoken. You want auto-bio. But I want to do a daily four panel strip. Thus, “Antiseptic” was born. A daily strip in my auto-bio style, about my day to day life. I an going to present it in full color from here forward, but the first couple I ran just in Black and White. The website is antisepticbylanceward.wordpress.com. Every day. Including weekends. Oh, I’ll get around to posting the rest of “Radio Daze” as soon as I finish painting it!
Hey kids! Well, you know what you want, and “Not Quite Frankenstein” isn’t it! Alright. More auto-bio. Fine. I have had a rich life and I like to write about it! This is one of the first auto-bio stories I ever did. It describes how I met ex-rock star and radio show host Earl Root, and eventually became his right hand man for a short time. Most of this story took place during 1997-98.
Is the name of my new daily comic strip. That’s right-daily. You see, I’ve always aspired to be a newspaper cartoonist. As an editorial cartoonist, only half of my dream has been accomplished so far. This is going to change, and I will update you further at a later time. For now, enjoy the first three strips:
Hey kids! Well, I decided to give the Kmart Shoes story the treatment it deserved and I’ve printed it up in full color. It cost a little more but it was worth it! And now you can buy your own copy at Amazon.com or Createspace.com! This book contains unposted comics and everything is woven together into one, cohesive story. http://www.amazon.com/Kmart-Shoes-Lance-Ward/dp/1470035898/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329601439&sr=1-1
Hey kids! That’s right! I have managed to put together the Kmart Shoes graphic novel just in time for the Toy and Comic Show this weekend (Feb 11) in Woodbury Minnesota! My autobiography is huge. And it is only half complete. So I decided to just publish these huge chapters in volumes, starting with the earliest part of my life, the chapter I am calling “Kmart Shoes”. Due to monetary restrictions, the volume in question will not be the way I exactly want it to be seen. I’ve had to publish in Grayscale instead of color, and I had to leave the story at 12 frames per page, instead of the six page, landscape style I had imagined. It will happen the way I want it someday I hope, but for now, this will have to do! It’s an affordable Ten dollars, and contains sevral pages of unposted material!?! Just intro’s and outro’s, right? Wrong! I never posted the story of how I ended up living with my Dad full time in 1982! And it stars that loveable kleptomaniac Mikey! You can pick up a special proof copy this weekend at Valley Creek Mall 1750 Weir Drive in Woodbury from 9am til 3pm! An dnow, for your viewing pleasure, the cover for this first volume:
